Me and the family arrived in Park City, Utah on Thursday night for the Sundance Film Festival 2010!! This year the theme is "cinematic rebellion," a renewed rebellion. It has been snowing lightly since the day that we got here, and Main Street has been packed full of celebrities, and locals/tourists (like us!) hoping to spot some!!
We started out seeing Teenage Paparazzo, a documentary film by Adrien Grenier. It was awesome!! It was about a 13 yr old paparazzo named Austin, who was obsessed with the Hollywood lifestyle. Adrien decided to turn the lens on Austin, and figure out what this obsession was all about. The film featured stars like Paris Hilton and Eva Longoria.

We finished off the night with a movie called "Armless," which was awful. This movie was about a man who was obsessed with having his arms amputated.... I believe this is called "Body Image Integrity Disorder." The man's wife believes he is having an affair, and wants to chop off his balls. She finds him in a hotel room with a chain saw, and the secret is revealed. He finds a doctor that he thinks will do the surgery but the doctor refuses..... and on and on and on.... The acting was less than average, and the theme was way too ridiculous to take seriously. Armless had "nothing there." Yikes!

Saw the shorts 2 program yesterday morning. What an awesome collection of short films!!

I would have to say that my favorite hands down was the "Successful Alcoholics" short. I was very interested to find out.... WHAT IS A SUCCESSFUL ALCOHOLIC!? I was quite relieved to find out that these don't exist, and that our definitions of "successful" vary immensely. Basically, the couple in the film were raging alcoholics - drinking morning, day, and night, but they both had successful jobs and drove nice cars and lived in nice homes. When the female character came down with a case of the dts and decided she wanted to quit drinking, her partner exclaimed, "what.. you get a mild case of the dts and that ruins everything for you?"!!!! HA!
We finished out the evening by enjoying a nice dinner at the Riverhorse Cafe on Main Street. I had goat cheese and artichoke stuffed chicken.... mmmm! On our way out of the restaurant I paused for a moment and thought that I recognized a very DISTINCT voice.... sure enough I turn around and Lil Jon is walking down the stairs behind me. My mother so kindly captured this photo of us out front of the restaurant... !
