carbonara

so ive been wanting to cook for Russ more lately..... and I saw a recipe for a traditional carbonara pasta in rachel ray's magazine. The one in the mag was done with bacon, and I did mine with chicken. It turned out pretty delish =) tough part was addin the egg yolks to the hot pasta at the end without them cooking/clumping. Bon appetit!!!

Tahoe weekend.momma pilot

I spent the weekend up here in Tahoe this weekend with my parents. My mom flew us up here in Little Miss Rocket with dad as co-pilot! Very exciting!!! The flight up was fabulous.... very smoothe.....! However, the weather in Tahoe is known to change very quickly..... so we werent able to fly out today! Thus begins my trip down to Reno and into SFO.....

Little Miss rocket:

BUT..... you can see how fast and drastically the mountain weather changes!!!!

Baked egg and ham souffle in Tahoe!

Whenever the holidays come around I get a wild hair to start cooking! My mom had an issue of Bon Appetit laying around... and it inspired me to make a delicious egg/bacon souffle that they had featured. I was missing a few of the ingredients... but I was able to improvise and it turned out to be absolutely delectable!! My dad was asking me to make more, and I think all three of us (mom, dad, me) finished within 5 minutes. I was lucky enough to use the pretty new ramikens my mother had purchased.

Here is the recipe that I used (I tweaked quite a few things to work with what I had in the kitchen....):
*Ingredients:
3 egg muffin halves
5 ounces of spinach
5 slices of ham (or bacon)
goat cheese
6 eggs

*Directions:
-Preheat oven to 400
-Put ham in large sauce pan and cook on medium until crispy. Place ham aside
-throw spinach in pan and cook for about 2 minutes, until warmed.
-Place egg muffin half in bottom of each ramekin
-sprinkle spinach evenly over each muffin
-sprinkle ham and goat cheese on top of spinach
-form a well with a fork in the middle of each cup to put the eggs in.
-Crack 2 eggs into each well of each cup, and place in the oven, directly on rack.
-Cook for 15-18 minutes, until the whites are cooked, but the yolks are still a bit runny.
DONE!!!

Park City Utah, Sundance Film Festival 2010!

Me and the family arrived in Park City, Utah on Thursday night for the Sundance Film Festival 2010!! This year the theme is "cinematic rebellion," a renewed rebellion. It has been snowing lightly since the day that we got here, and Main Street has been packed full of celebrities, and locals/tourists (like us!) hoping to spot some!!

We started out seeing Teenage Paparazzo, a documentary film by Adrien Grenier. It was awesome!! It was about a 13 yr old paparazzo named Austin, who was obsessed with the Hollywood lifestyle. Adrien decided to turn the lens on Austin, and figure out what this obsession was all about. The film featured stars like Paris Hilton and Eva Longoria.

We finished off the night with a movie called "Armless," which was awful. This movie was about a man who was obsessed with having his arms amputated.... I believe this is called "Body Image Integrity Disorder." The man's wife believes he is having an affair, and wants to chop off his balls. She finds him in a hotel room with a chain saw, and the secret is revealed. He finds a doctor that he thinks will do the surgery but the doctor refuses..... and on and on and on.... The acting was less than average, and the theme was way too ridiculous to take seriously. Armless had "nothing there." Yikes!

Saw the shorts 2 program yesterday morning. What an awesome collection of short films!!
I would have to say that my favorite hands down was the "Successful Alcoholics" short. I was very interested to find out.... WHAT IS A SUCCESSFUL ALCOHOLIC!? I was quite relieved to find out that these don't exist, and that our definitions of "successful" vary immensely. Basically, the couple in the film were raging alcoholics - drinking morning, day, and night, but they both had successful jobs and drove nice cars and lived in nice homes. When the female character came down with a case of the dts and decided she wanted to quit drinking, her partner exclaimed, "what.. you get a mild case of the dts and that ruins everything for you?"!!!! HA!

We finished out the evening by enjoying a nice dinner at the Riverhorse Cafe on Main Street. I had goat cheese and artichoke stuffed chicken.... mmmm! On our way out of the restaurant I paused for a moment and thought that I recognized a very DISTINCT voice.... sure enough I turn around and Lil Jon is walking down the stairs behind me. My mother so kindly captured this photo of us out front of the restaurant... !

Fashion Shoot

Wow... so a lot has gone on since I last posted in! My neighbor, Kristen, is a semi-professional photographer and is working on strengthening her portfolio. She wanted to do an editorial/fashion shoot over Labor Day weekend, and asked me if I would do the styling for her. I agreed....

SO - basically we ransacked my closet and brought everything cute/designer that I had down to the studio @ Empire 7. Kristen introduced me as her "stylist" to the models and other photographers, and I guess I really had them going by the end of the shoot!

I had SO much fun... putting together the outfits was so fun and easy for me, and I just had a complete blast doing it! The models were super easy to work with, and seemed to be happy with my outfit choices and adjustments. Needless to say, this is something that I definitely want to pursue in the future... it was too much fun and I LOVE style and fashion. New career choice???? Here are some of the photos from the shoot. The male model is Rich and female model is Tessa. Kristen's company is called DIME Image Studios. http://dimeimage.com/site/
